*Tibet train ticket shortageExcessive number of tourists visiting Tibet causes train ticket shortage.
August is the most prosperous month in Tibet's tourist season. With an excessive number of tourists traveling in and out of Tibet, it has become difficult to procure train tickets. In order to buy a ticket, tourists must start queuing at the train station at midnight.
At 3:30 pm on August 13, reporters at the Lhasa Railway Station ticket hall saw that there was a long queue at every ticket window. Many of the people purchasing tickets were travel agency personnel. They told reporters that there are a particularly high number of tourists visiting Tibet this year, and most of them chose to leave Tibet by train, therefore it is very hard to purchase so many tickets.
Reporters learned that between August 20 and September 10, passenger flow from Tibet will combine with the flow of Tibetan students traveling to interior regions to study and the flow of students returning to their universities. This means that it will be even harder to purchase a train ticket for traveling out of Tibet.
